It was a long shot and the day was hot

I beat it back to the motel
I tuned the radio to gospel
Then as night fell I hit the road
With the window down

The next morning I began to hear the whispers
The cat was amoung the pigeons
And the world was abuzz with the news
Of my kill

Gun oil on the newspaper
I could see down through the layers
And the words were playing and the
Photos blurred
